G80 Lifting Components

74 products

This range covers Grade 80 (grade 8) fittings for chain slings and rigging: connecting, omega and clevis links, master links and master link assemblies, pear links, rings and swivels, and a wide choice of hooks, including latch sling hooks, self-locking hooks, grab and shortening hooks, choke hooks, weld-on hooks and forged eye hoist hooks. Items are listed in metric chain sizes such as 10-8 or in inch sizes, each with its working load limit; most are rated with a minimum breaking load of four times the WLL. In Europe, buyers typically specify sling components to the EN 1677 series and chain slings to EN 818-4; in North America, ASTM A952 and the ASME B30 rigging and hook standards are common references. These are lifting components, not fall protection equipment. The range can be supplied as OEM or private label, and parts can be modified to a customer drawing.

Frequently asked questions

What does Grade 80 mean?
Grade 80, called grade 8 in EN standards, is a strength class for alloy steel lifting chain and the fittings designed to match it. Grade 8 chain corresponds to a mean stress of 800 N/mm² at its specified minimum breaking force. Fittings should be matched to chain of the same grade and size, because a sling is only as strong as its weakest component.
How do working load limit and minimum breaking load relate?
The working load limit (WLL) is the maximum load a component is rated to lift in general service, and the minimum breaking load is the force it must withstand before failing in a test. The ratio between them is the design factor: most items in this range are rated at 4:1, while the forged eye hoist hooks and the 5301A use 5:1 and some weldless rings, pear links and master links use 6:1. In use, the WLL of a sling is further reduced by leg angles, choker hitches and other conditions set out in the applicable standard.
How do I read sizes such as 10-8 or 7/8-8?
European-style size codes give the chain diameter in millimetres followed by the grade, so 10-8 denotes a fitting for 10 mm grade 8 chain and 7/8-8 a fitting for 7 mm or 8 mm grade 8 chain. Inch-sized items are listed by chain trade size, such as 3/8 in, with working load limits in pounds. Always match the fitting code to the chain actually used in the sling.
What is the difference between a latch hook and a self-locking hook?
A latch hook has a spring-loaded latch that closes the throat to help retain a slack sling, but the latch can be pushed open. On a self-locking hook, the latch closes and locks automatically and stays locked until the operator presses the release trigger. Self-locking hooks are chosen where accidental release would be a serious risk, for example on construction and steel erection lifts.
Can Grade 80 lifting components be used for fall protection?
No. These components are designed and rated for lifting and rigging, under lifting standards and design factors. Personal fall protection connectors and anchors are designed and tested to different requirements, such as EN 362 and EN 795 in Europe or the ANSI/ASSP Z359 series in North America, and lifting hardware should not be used in their place.
What should a Grade 80 RFQ include?
State the article number, chain size and grade, working load limit and quantity for each item, plus whether you need latches, specific marking, proof-test or traceability documents, and a particular finish or colour. If a part needs changing, attach a drawing or sample. This lets the factory quote the right forging, heat treatment and testing route.

Need this in a different specification?

Different size, material, finish, strength rating or gate, or a part that is not here at all. Send a drawing or a sample and we will come back with a DFM review and a quotation.

  • A reply within two business days from our team in Taipei.
  • NDA on request before drawings or specifications change hands.
  • An engineering and DFM review, not a sales pitch — we will say so if we are the wrong fit.
