Catalogued as a new design of eye self-locking hook, the 6100A is listed in four Grade 80 chain sizes. The 7/8-8 hook is rated at 2.0 ton and weighs 0.83 kg, the 10-8 at 3.2 ton and 1.26 kg, the 13-8 at 5.4 ton and 2.12 kg, and the 16-8 at 8.2 ton and 3.49 kg. Minimum breaking load is four times the working load limit.
With a self-locking hook, the latch closes and locks automatically and stays locked until the operator presses the release trigger, which protects against accidental release when a sling goes slack. The eye end connects to chain through a connecting link, or to a master link, wire rope thimble or other fitting. Uses include chain slings for construction, steel erection, precast and plant maintenance. The 6100A is a lifting hook and should not be used for personal fall protection.
