D-Ring and Buckle Manufacturer for Harness and Belt Brands
Forged and stamped D-rings, quick-connect, pass-through and tongue buckles, webbing adjusters and auto-locking buckles — the metal a harness is qualified with.
Power Honour is a D-ring and buckle manufacturer in Taiwan, making forged and stamped D-rings, quick-connect, pass-through and tongue buckles, webbing adjusters and auto-locking buckles for harness, belt and lanyard brands. In a full body harness the hardware is qualified with the harness: under ANSI/ASSP Z359.11 each attachment point must hold 3,600 lbf (16 kN) for one minute and the D-rings, buckles and connectors must meet ANSI/ASSP Z359.12, so harness hardware is specified against the standard rather than bought as a commodity part. We forge, stamp, heat treat, plate or anodise and test in house, to your drawing and the standards your market requires.
Types of harness hardware we manufacture
Forged D-rings
Drop-forged alloy steel and aluminium D-rings, O-rings, full-circle flat rings and delta rings for dorsal, sternal and side attachment, heat treated after forging.
Stamped and formed D-rings
D-rings stamped from sheet alloy steel and heat treated — flat, bar and parabolic shapes — where a thin profile sits better under webbing. A stamped ring has to meet the same strength requirement as a forged one.
Quick-connect buckles
Two-part buckles for leg and chest straps that connect in one motion, in steel or aluminium, including designs that pair an aluminium female half with a steel male half to balance weight and wear.
Pass-through and tongue buckles
Pass-through (double-slot) and tongue buckles for leg straps and belts, forged or stamped in alloy steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Webbing adjusters
Sliding adjusters and double-back buckles that hold webbing length under load. ANSI/ASSP Z359.11 limits slippage through any adjuster to 1 in (25 mm), so bar geometry and edge finish are part of the design.
Auto-locking and auto-release buckles
Side-release, quick-release and bayonet buckles that lock automatically on engagement, including forged aluminium designs for 45 mm webbing, each specified against the standard for the end product.
Standards and what buyers check
Harness hardware is rarely certified on its own; it is qualified as part of the harness or belt it goes into, so the hardware has to be designed around that product’s standard. Our experience covers CE EN standards and ANSI/ASSP Z359 under an ISO 9001 system; CSA certification for Canada is arranged per product with the certification body you choose.
| Standard | What it covers | What buyers check |
|---|---|---|
| ANSI/ASSP Z359.11 | Full body harnesses for personal fall arrest in the US, for users with a capacity of 130 to 310 lb (59 to 140 kg). | Each attachment point holds 3,600 lbf (16 kN) for one minute in the static test; slippage through any adjuster no more than 1 in (25 mm); D-rings, buckles and connectors must meet ANSI/ASSP Z359.12. |
| CSA Z259.10 | Full body harnesses in Canada, classified by use — fall arrest, work positioning, ladder climbing and other classes. | Class-dependent design, test and marking requirements. It is a separate standard from Z359.11, so a Z359.11 harness is not automatically CSA-compliant. Tell us the classes your customers specify. |
| EN 361 | Full body harnesses for fall arrest in Europe. | Dynamic drops with a 100 kg torso dummy, head-up and head-down, followed by static strength tests on the complete harness; metal fittings go through a neutral salt-spray test. Hardware is qualified as part of the harness type examination. |
| EN 358 | Belts and lanyards for work positioning or restraint — equipment that is not intended for fall arrest. | Strength, adjuster and corrosion requirements for work-positioning belts, their side D-rings and positioning lanyards. Where the belt is part of a full body harness, the fall-arrest attachment is qualified separately under EN 361. |
Materials and processes
Harness hardware is made two ways — drop forged, or stamped from sheet alloy steel — and then heat treated and finished. Both routes run in house, so choosing between them is an engineering decision about profile, weight and cost rather than a question of which supplier happens to offer which.
Materials
- Alloy steel
- Carbon steel
- Aluminium alloys including 7075
- Stainless steel 304
In-house processes
- Drop forging of steel and aluminium rings and buckles
- Stamping of D-rings, adjusters and buckle frames from sheet alloy steel
- Heat treatment of alloy steel parts
- CNC machining of bars, pins and buckle mechanisms
- Zinc plating, black coating, anodising and passivation
- Buckle and spring sub-assembly
- Proof-load and tensile testing to your test plan
- Counted, lot-labelled packaging for harness sewing lines
OEM options: marking, finishes and packaging
Marking
Laser marking of your name, the standard and ratings the standard requires, plus a model reference and a batch or lot code if you want traceability back to production records. The layout is agreed before tooling so the marks sit on a surface that stays legible after finishing.
Finishes and colours
Clear or yellow zinc plating and black coatings on steel; anodising in colour on aluminium buckles and rings, often used to colour-code straps or harness sizes.
Webbing fit
Slot widths and bar profiles matched to your webbing — the existing range covers 19, 25, 45 and 50 mm webbing — so the adjuster grips without cutting the fibres.
Packaging
Counted and labelled by lot for your sewing line, so each harness can be traced back to its hardware batch.

- Are forged D-rings stronger than stamped D-rings?
- Not automatically. Forging suits heavier sections and gives grain flow that follows the shape; a ring stamped from heat-treated sheet alloy steel can meet the same 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) major-axis requirement of ANSI/ASSP Z359.12 with a thinner profile. What matters is that the ring passes the standard in the harness it is built into.
- Do harness D-rings and buckles need to be certified separately?
- Under ANSI/ASSP Z359.11 the D-rings, buckles and connectors in a harness must meet ANSI/ASSP Z359.12, and the harness itself is qualified as an assembly. In Europe the hardware is tested as part of the EN 361 harness type examination. The certificate is held by the harness brand; we make and document the hardware to support it.
- What is the adjuster slippage limit for a harness?
- ANSI/ASSP Z359.11 limits slippage through any adjuster to 1 in (25 mm) in test. Slippage depends on the adjuster bar profile, the edge finish and the webbing, so we recommend sending your webbing with the drawing so the hardware is tested with the material it will be sewn to.
- Which buckle types do you manufacture?
- Quick-connect buckles, pass-through (double-slot) buckles, tongue buckles, sliding adjusters, double-back buckles, and auto-locking side-release, quick-release and bayonet buckles, in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
- Can buckles and D-rings be anodised in our brand colours?
- Aluminium buckles and rings can be anodised in your colours; steel parts are zinc plated or coated. Colour is often used to separate chest, leg and waist hardware or harness sizes, and it is agreed with the finish sample before production.
