449 Sheet Alloy Steel Quick Buckle, 17.8 kN

The 449 is cut from sheet alloy steel and heat treated, then rated at a minimum breaking load of 4000 lbs (17.8 kN). It is 3.2 mm thick, and the product photo shows a rectangular frame.

Heat treatment allows a relatively thin steel frame to reach a strength suited to harness connections, keeping weight and bulk down. Quick buckle frames like the 449 are generally used with a mating slotted buckle so that the strap can be fastened and released without rethreading, a common arrangement on leg and chest straps of fall protection harnesses and on positioning belts. The 4000 lb figure is also the rating of the 221 and 222 tongue buckles and the 201 and 202 sliding adjusters in this category, which helps when building a harness range around one strength level.

Specify webbing width and thickness, finish, marking and the mating buckle in the RFQ. Dimensions are on the drawing. The 449 is available for OEM and private-label programmes, and Power Honour can adapt it to a customer drawing.
