The 4900A eye hook is catalogued as an A-327 type and listed in four sizes. The 5/6-8 size, for 5 or 6 mm chain, is rated at 1.5 ton with a net weight of 0.244 kg. The 7/8-8 size carries 2.0 ton at 0.400 kg, the 10-8 size 3.2 ton at 0.820 kg, and the 13-8 size 5.4 ton at 1.660 kg. Minimum breaking load is four times the working load limit.
An eye hook connects through its eye to a link, shackle, master link or wire rope thimble, which makes it adaptable to chain, rope and textile sling assemblies as well as to hoisting equipment. Applications include general lifting, rigging and material handling in workshops, construction and maintenance. The 4900A is lifting hardware and should not be used for personal fall protection.
