The 046A is a Grade 8 choke hook with published dimensions. For 10 mm chain it measures L 119 mm, B 20 mm and E 42 mm and is rated at 3.2 ton. The 13 mm size measures L 150 mm and is rated at 5.4 ton, and the 16 mm size measures L 185 mm, B 32 mm and E 64 mm, rated at 8.0 ton. Minimum breaking load is four times the WLL.
Choke hooks allow a chain to slide through the hook and tighten around bundles of logs, pipe, timber or bar. They are used in forestry, construction and stockyard handling, and pair with the 047A choke link. A choker hitch has a lower rated capacity than a straight lift. The 046A is lifting hardware, not fall protection equipment.
