Product details
On a self-locking hook, the latch closes and locks automatically and stays locked until the operator presses the release trigger, so the hook cannot open by accident during a lift. The 6700A applies this design to a clevis connection in North American chain sizes. Its 1/4-5/16 in size is rated at 4500 lb and weighs 1.79 lb; the 3/8 in at 7100 lb and 3.19 lb; the 1/2 in at 12000 lb and 6.75 lb; and the 5/8 in at 18100 lb and 11.94 lb. Minimum breaking load is four times the working load limit.
Self-locking hooks are chosen for lifts where load security matters most, such as construction, steel erection, precast handling and industrial maintenance, and where a standard latch could be pushed open. The 6700A is a lifting hook, not a fall protection connector.
When specifying, give the chain trade size and grade, and confirm the throat opening needed for the lifting points in use. The 6700A can be produced under OEM or private label, or adapted to a drawing.
