Listed in a single 2 ton size, the 8201A eye foundry hook weighs 0.7 kg and, like most of this Grade 80 range, is specified with a minimum breaking load of four times its working load limit. The eye end connects to a master link, connecting link or wire rope thimble rather than directly to a chain link, which distinguishes it from clevis-type hooks.
Foundry hooks are typically made with a wide throat opening so that they can engage lifting rings, eyes and bails easily, and they are used in foundries, fabrication shops and other settings where loads are handled by fixed lifting points. As a Grade 80 lifting hook, the 8201A is not designed for personal fall protection and should not be used as a fall-arrest connector.
When specifying, confirm the throat opening needed for the lifting points it will engage, the connection on the eye side, and any requirement for a latch or marking. The 8201A can be supplied as OEM or private-label hardware, or modified to a customer drawing.
