318A Grade 8 Swivel Self-Locking Hook

The 318A adds a swivel to the self-locking hook design, so the hook can be turned to meet the lifting point. Four chain sizes are published with drawing dimensions. The 7+8 mm hook measures L 186 mm, B 26 mm, E 37 mm and G 21.0 mm, with a working load limit of 2.0 ton. The 10 mm size measures L 224 mm and is rated at 3.2 ton, the 13 mm size L 283 mm at 5.4 ton, and the 16 mm size L 334 mm at 8.0 ton. Minimum breaking load is four times the WLL.
On a self-locking hook, the latch closes and locks automatically and stays locked until the operator presses the release trigger. With the swivel, this suits multi-leg slings and lifts where chain legs could otherwise twist, in construction, precast and steel erection. The 318A is a lifting hook and should not be used for fall protection.
When specifying, confirm the chain diameter and grade, the throat opening G needed for the lifting points, and whether the swivel will rotate under load. The 318A can be produced as OEM or private label, or adapted to a drawing.
