ANSI Carabiners
9 products
This category groups connectors intended for fall-protection markets that work to ANSI/ASSP Z359.12 in the United States and CSA Z259.12 in Canada. ANSI Z359.12 requires connectors with self-closing, self-locking gates, a major-axis strength of at least 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) and gate strength of 3,600 lbf (16 kN). The range includes aluminium triple-lock and quicklock models (A455 and A301 series) listed as meeting ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009 and CSA Z259.12-11, a galvanised steel D carabiner with captive-eye pin, and a Z-series of steel carabiners with breaking strengths from 25 to 50 kN. Typical uses are lanyard terminations, anchor connections and rescue or confined-space systems in construction, utilities and industry. Buyers should confirm the edition each product is certified to. All models can be supplied OEM or under a private label.

Frequently asked questions
- What does ANSI Z359.12 require of a carabiner?
- ANSI/ASSP Z359.12 covers connecting components for personal fall-arrest systems. Carabiners must have a self-closing, self-locking gate, withstand at least 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) on the major axis and 3,600 lbf (16 kN) on the gate, and meet marking and proof-load testing requirements.
- Is an EN 362 carabiner automatically ANSI compliant?
- No. ANSI Z359.12 sets its own gate-strength, marking and testing requirements, so a connector certified to the European standard EN 362 must be separately tested and certified for the North American market. Many brands specify both when selling internationally.
- Why do some listings cite the 2009 or 2011 editions?
- The A455 and A301 models are listed against ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009 and CSA Z259.12-11. Both standards have since been revised, to ANSI/ASSP Z359.12-2019 and CSA Z259.12-16, so buyers should confirm which edition current production is certified to before placing an order.
- Should I choose aluminium or steel ANSI carabiners?
- Aluminium connectors weigh considerably less, which matters for workers carrying several of them, and can be anodised in colours for equipment coding. Steel connectors are heavier but offer higher breaking strengths and better resistance to abrasion and rough handling on construction and industrial sites.
- What does 3600LBS mean in a model code?
- It refers to the 3,600 lbf (16 kN) gate-strength figure associated with ANSI Z359.12. Where a specification lists only the breaking strength, ask the supplier for gate-strength test data and the certificate for the batch being ordered.
