AB-032 Aluminium Alloy Belay Device

AB-032 is a belay device made of aluminium alloy. The photograph shows a tube-style design with a wire retaining loop, the configuration most climbers recognise: the rope is pushed through the slot as a bight, clipped into a locking carabiner on the harness, and controlled by the belayer's brake hand.

Manual belay devices are used for top-rope and lead belaying at climbing walls and outdoor crags and for abseiling on single or double ropes, depending on design. In Europe, manual braking devices are addressed by EN 15151-2; brand owners usually define the certification route for the finished product.
