AB-037 Aluminium Belay Device for 8-12 mm Rope

AB-037 is a heavier-bodied aluminium belay device at 103 g, with a stated rope range of 8 mm to 12 mm. The product photograph shows a contoured body with a wire retaining loop and an attachment eye; the second image is a dimension drawing.

The extra mass compared with the 65-85 g devices in this range gives more material around the rope slots, which can help absorb heat during long or repeated abseils. Like other manual belay devices, AB-037 relies on the belayer's brake hand to hold the rope and is used for top-rope and lead belaying and for abseiling. Manual braking devices are addressed in Europe by EN 15151-2.

When specifying AB-037, buyers should confirm the rope types to be tested with it, whether single or double ropes will be used, and the certification route for the brand.
