AAD-0329L Left-Hand Aluminium Alloy Ascender

The AAD-0329L is the left-hand version of the AAD-0329 handled ascender; AAD-0329-R is the right-hand counterpart. Its frame is aluminium alloy and the toothed cam can be specified in steel or stainless steel, which lets a brand choose between the hardness of carbon steel and the corrosion resistance of stainless for wet or coastal use. The rope range is 8-13 mm and the listed breaking strength is 4 kN.

That 4 kN figure is typical of how toothed-cam rope clamps are rated: it describes the device gripping a rope, not the strength of the frame, and ascenders are intended for static loading only. Users hold the handle, slide the ascender up the line and load it through a foot loop or lanyard, usually in combination with a chest ascender.
