A729 Forged Aluminium Snap Hook with Eye

Although listed with the carabiners, A729 is a forged snap hook with an eye. Its body is aluminium alloy with an anodised finish and the latch is stainless steel. The hook measures 137.7 mm long by 70.6 mm wide, opens to 24 mm, weighs 128 g and has a listed breaking strength of 30 kN.

The eye at the base allows the hook to be permanently attached to webbing or rope, which is how snap hooks are normally used: as the connecting end of a lanyard, a work-positioning strap or an equipment tether. Forging is commonly chosen for this type of part because it produces a dense, continuous grain structure suited to load-bearing hardware, and aluminium keeps the weight well below that of an equivalent steel hook.

When requesting a quotation, specify the certification the finished lanyard or connector must carry, for example EN 362 or ANSI Z359.12, the anodised colour and the marking.
