A740WR Aluminium Wire-Gate Carabiner

A740WR is the lightest member of the A740 family at 30 g. It shares the compact 94.5 x 57.8 mm aluminium alloy frame but uses a wire gate that opens to 28 mm, the widest opening of the group. Listed strengths are 24 kN major axis, 8 kN minor axis and 9 kN gate open.

A wire gate has less mass than a solid gate, so it is less likely to flutter open under vibration or impact, and it is less prone to freezing in cold, wet conditions. The large opening makes clipping quick, which is why wire-gate carabiners are used on both ends of lightweight quickdraws, on alpine draws and for racking.

As a non-locking connector, A740WR should not be used for belaying or other connections that must stay closed. The A740 family includes A740KNS, A740KNB and A740KSG for matching quickdraws and lockers. Specify the certification target, sling assembly, colours and marking in your RFQ. A740WR can be supplied under a private label for quickdraw ranges, or adapted to a customer drawing.
