A718KTL pairs the widest gate opening in this range, 31 mm, with a twist-lock gate that locks itself on release. The aluminium alloy body weighs 100 g and is listed at 22 kN major axis, 8 kN minor axis and 8 kN gate open.
Large self-locking carabiners are useful wherever thick ropes, structural members or several slings need to be clipped quickly and reliably, often by a user wearing gloves. Examples include rescue haul systems, rope-access and work-positioning connections to anchors, arborist rigging and anchor master points. Because the gate locks automatically, there is no risk of a sleeve being left unscrewed.
