A716KNB Aluminium Key-Lock Bent-Gate Carabiner

A716KNB is an aluminium alloy carabiner with a 105 x 60 mm frame, a 23.5 mm bent-gate opening and a weight of 50 g. The listed strengths are 23 kN along the major axis, 7 kN across the minor axis and 7 kN with the gate open.

A bent gate guides the rope into the carabiner, which makes clipping faster on steep terrain, and the wide 23.5 mm opening gives a large target. This is why bent-gate models normally sit on the rope end of a quickdraw. The key-lock nose lets the rope run out of the carabiner without catching when it is unclipped.

The A716 family includes A716KNS with a straight gate for the bolt end and A716KSG with a screw gate, so a brand can build a matched quickdraw and locker set from one design. As a non-locking connector, A716KNB is not intended for belaying or single-point connections.
