SA-02 Via Ferrata Shock Absorber for Horizontal Lifelines, Stainless Steel and PU

For horizontal lifelines, the SA-02 provides energy absorption through a polyurethane (PU) element in a stainless steel body. It is compatible with 8 mm wire cable, and it is designed to reduce fall arrest forces. The ladder-system counterpart with the same materials is the SA02, while the SA-03, SA-04 and SA-05 use a stainless steel spring.

In a horizontal system, a fall loads the cable sideways and generates high tension at the end anchors. An in-line absorber, normally placed near an end anchor, compresses under that load and limits the peak force transmitted to the anchors and the roof, facade or rock they are fixed to. PU absorbers are compact and have no exposed spring.

Activation force, stroke and dimensions should be requested, along with any deployment indicator, so the absorber can be matched to the system calculation. Installation and inspection belong to a competent person. The SA-02 can be produced as OEM or private label, or to a customer drawing.
