At 50 g, A005KSG is one of the lightest locking carabiners in the range. Its 7075 aluminium alloy frame measures 99 x 59 mm, the screw gate opens to 17.5 mm, and the listed strengths are 24 kN major axis, 8 kN minor axis and 8 kN gate open.
A small locking connector like this is often carried where weight counts: securing a belay device or personal anchor, clipping a pack or tool, or as a light locking option on alpine and ski-mountaineering racks. The manual screw sleeve keeps the user in control of locking, and the key-lock nose avoids snagging on slings and gear loops. The compact size limits how much can be clipped into it, so it is less suited to busy anchor points than larger pear-shaped models.
