B712K uses the B71 frame: 12 mm aluminium alloy bar shaped to 114 x 75 mm. The listed strengths are 25 kN major axis, 8 kN minor axis and 8 kN gate open, the gate opens to 25 mm and the weight is 75 g.
The product photo and dimension drawing show a long knurled locking sleeve; confirm the exact gate mechanism on the current drawing. Large, thick-bar locking carabiners of this kind are used in rescue haul systems, for rope-access and work-positioning connections to anchors, and at belay stations.
Within the B71 family, B711K is pictured with a screw-type sleeve and B713K with a dark sleeve and a 22 mm opening. The thick 12 mm bar provides a generous bearing radius for rope.
