A006WR 7075 Aluminium Wire-Gate Carabiner

At 30 g, A006WR shares the lowest weight in this carabiner range with A740WR. The 7075 aluminium alloy frame is compact at 91 x 57 mm, yet the wire gate opens to 23.5 mm. Listed strengths are 22 kN along the major axis, 7 kN across the minor axis and 8 kN with the gate open.

Wire gates save weight compared with solid gates and have less gate mass, which reduces the tendency of the gate to flutter open when the carabiner is shock-loaded or knocked against rock. They are also less prone to freezing shut in cold conditions. These traits make A006WR a natural choice for sport and trad quickdraws, alpine racks and lightweight kits.

As a non-locking connector, it should not be used where the gate must stay closed, such as belaying or a single-point personal anchor.
