A712SG Aluminium Screw-Gate Carabiner

Built in aluminium alloy, the A712SG weighs 60 g and has a 20 mm gate opening. Its breaking strengths are 23 kN along the major axis and 7 kN for both minor-axis and gate-open loading. A manual screw sleeve locks the gate.

At only 5 g heavier than the non-locking A712 models, it is an easy way to add a locking carabiner to a range that already uses A712 carabiners and quickdraws, keeping strength figures consistent across the series. Typical uses include attaching a belay device, clipping a personal anchor and securing gear at a stance.
