A2448SG Aluminium Screw-Gate Carabiner

The A2448SG is a large-frame locking carabiner in aluminium alloy. It weighs 80 g, opens to 20 mm and is rated at 22 kN along the major axis, with 8 kN for both cross-loading and gate-open loading. A threaded sleeve is turned by hand to lock the gate.

Full-size screw-gate carabiners like this are used to build climbing anchors, attach belay and rappel devices, connect slings and clip into fixed points. A larger frame also gives more room when two or three items have to share one carabiner.

The A2448SG has a twist-lock counterpart, the A2448TL, for users who prefer an auto-locking gate. When sourcing, confirm the gate opening against the thickest item that must pass through it and specify colour and marking.
