A727 is forged from aluminium alloy, a process that aligns the metal's grain with the hook's shape and allows a strong part at low weight. It has a 30 kN breaking strength and weighs 125 g.

Forged aluminium snap hooks of this weight class are used at the ends of shock-absorbing lanyards and self-retracting lifelines, where every gram on the harness matters and the hook must withstand repeated clipping over a long service life.
