A728-1 Aluminium 7075 Captive-Eye Snap Hook, 30 kN

A728-1 combines a 7075 aluminium body with a 6061 aluminium gate and an SS304 stainless steel latch. It is 138 mm long and 71 mm wide, opens to 24 mm, and has a 23 mm captive eye. With a 30 kN breaking strength at 125 g, it offers a high strength-to-weight ratio for a hook of this size.

The larger 23 mm captive eye accepts wider webbing loops or thicker rope terminations than the 20 mm eye of A722-1. Lanyard and self-retracting lifeline manufacturers use hooks like this at both the user and anchor ends, where weight on the harness and a secure, aligned termination both matter.
