Product details
SS451 combines a snap shackle jaw with a swivel eye, all in AISI 316 stainless steel. Overall lengths are 70, 87 and 128 mm, and in each size A and B are equal: 12, 16 and 22 mm respectively.
On sailboats the swivel snap shackle is the usual fitting for spinnaker sheets and guys, halyards and any line that may wind up under load, because the swivel lets it unwind and the snap allows release without untying. It also appears on mooring pennants, tender painters and dinghy gear. Grade 316 is preferred for its chloride resistance. As with the other snap shackles in this range, no load rating is published, so the fitting should not be used for lifting or fall protection.
