A835 Aluminium Alloy Parachute Harness Buckle, 12 kN

The A835 is listed in aluminium alloy with a weight of 60 g and a breaking load of 12 kN, and the rating is marked on the part in the photograph. It is a two-piece buckle: a main body with a webbing slot, and a separate rectangular loop that engages it. The second image is a dimension drawing of both parts.

Two-part buckles allow a harness to be put on and taken off quickly while keeping a secure closure in use. On parachute and paraglider harnesses they are used on leg and chest straps, and similar buckles appear on rescue and work harnesses. The harness manufacturer normally qualifies the buckle together with its webbing and stitching as part of the finished harness, for example under EN 1651 for paragliding harnesses.
