SS249 316 Stainless Steel Rigid Eye Snap

The SS249 rigid eye snap has a fixed eye rather than a swivel, keeping the hook short and direct. It is made from AISI 316 stainless steel in four sizes: No.1 with E 9 mm (3/8 in.) and L 54 mm, No.2 with E 16 mm (5/8 in.) and L 72 mm, No.3 with E 18 mm (11/16 in.) and L 81 mm, and No.4 with E 21 mm (3/4 in.) and L 98 mm. B, S and D are also dimensioned on the drawing.

At the 5/8 in. size it is 72 mm long, against 83 mm for the swivel SS251, so a rigid eye suits places where the line does not need to rotate and length matters: boat covers, bag straps, lanyards and halyard ends. Grade 316 gives the corrosion resistance needed near salt water. No load figures are listed, so the snap is not intended for lifting or for personal fall protection.
