3141D Forged Steel Swivel Snap Hook with Load Indicator

The 3141D shares the forged steel body of the 3141: 190 x 70 mm overall, a 19 mm opening, a double-action gate, 40 kN minimum tensile strength, and 3,600 lbs (16 kN) minimum gate and side load strength. What it adds is a load indicator. A red part appears on the snap at a marked location when the hook has been subjected to fall-arresting force.

A visible indicator gives inspectors a simple pass or fail check: if the red part shows, the hook, and usually the lanyard or lifeline it belongs to, has arrested a fall and should be removed from service following the manufacturer's instructions. That makes 3141D a practical choice for self-retracting lifelines and shock-absorbing lanyards sold under ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009 and CSA Z259.12-11.
