Product details

The A698 has an aluminium body with an anodised standard finish, a toothed cam and a rope range of 8 to 13 mm. The breaking strength is listed as 4 kN, a rating that describes the clamp gripping the rope, which is why ascenders are rated well below connectors and must only be loaded statically. The second image is a dimension drawing of the frame.

In a rope-climbing system the chest ascender is connected low on the harness and held vertical by a chest harness or strap, so that each stand-up movement advances it up the rope. It is used by cavers on vertical pitches, rope access technicians working to a two-rope system, arborists who rope-walk into the canopy and rescue teams.

Buyers should specify the anodised colour, any logo marking, the rope diameters to be covered and the certification target for their market. A698 can be supplied as OEM or private-label product, or modified to a customer drawing for frame shape or attachment holes.
