2308 D-Shape Galvanised Steel Captive-Eye Carabiner, Screw-Lock

The 2308 is a D-type karabiner in galvanised steel, 103 mm long and 55 mm wide, with a screw-lock gate and a listed breaking strength of 35 kN. Its captive eye is closed by a pin, and the carabiner ships with the pin uninstalled. Twist-lock and triple-lock gate versions are also offered.

A captive eye holds the lanyard or sling termination in a fixed position, so the carabiner cannot rotate into a cross-loaded orientation and the load stays on the major axis. Supplying the pin loose lets an assembler thread a sewn webbing loop or spliced rope eye into the captive eye and then install the pin, which suits manufacturers of fall-protection lanyards, positioning lanyards and rescue assemblies.
