The A717KSG is a locking carabiner in aluminium alloy, weighing 80 g with a 22 mm gate opening. A screw sleeve locks the gate, and the keylock nose keeps the opening free of hooks that might catch on slings or harness belay loops. Listed breaking strengths are 25 kN on the major axis and 9 kN for both minor-axis and gate-open loading.
In use it fills the role of an all-round locking carabiner: securing a belay device to a harness, building and clipping anchors, or linking a personal lanyard. Its twist-lock sibling, the A717KTL, adds 10 g for an auto-locking gate.
