Product details
The AN-10 covers ten sizes of passive nut, each mounted on a wire rope loop. Breaking strength rises with size: 4 kN for sizes 1 and 2, 7 kN for sizes 3 to 5, and 11 kN for sizes 6 to 10. Sizes 1 and 2 use 2.4 mm 7x7 wire rope, sizes 3 to 5 use 3.2 mm 7x7, and sizes 6 to 10 use 3.2 mm 7x19. Listed lengths are 450, 480, 520 and 570 mm across the size groups.
Passive nuts are placed in constrictions in a crack and loaded so that they wedge tighter, giving trad climbers light, simple protection with no moving parts. The small sizes, with their lower ratings, are used in thin cracks and are usually backed up.
Chocks for climbing in Europe are tested to EN 12270. Buyers should specify head material and finish, wire colour coding, size marking and set composition. Power Honour can supply the AN-10 as a private-label set or as individual sizes.
