Cambium Savers

1 product

This category covers cambium savers, also called friction savers, for professional arborists and recreational tree climbers. A cambium saver is installed around a branch union so that the climbing line runs through metal rings instead of over the bark, which reduces friction and rope wear and protects the cambium layer beneath the bark. The AWCS-0430 uses 20 mm high-tenacity nylon webbing rated at 20 kN with two aluminium O-rings rated at 25 kN, a 45 mm ID large ring and a 28 mm ID small ring, so it can be retrieved from the ground. It suits stationary rope system (SRS) and moving rope system (MRS) anchors, rope access and technical rigging. Depending on the market and intended use, buyers may ask for testing to a relevant anchor or sling standard. The product can be supplied OEM or private label.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cambium saver used for?
A cambium saver creates a smooth, low-friction anchor point in a tree. The climbing line runs through its rings rather than over the bark, which protects both the rope and the tree's cambium layer and makes ascending and descending smoother.
How is a ring-and-webbing cambium saver retrieved?
The small ring is sized to pass through the large ring. When the climber is back on the ground, pulling the appropriate side of the rope draws the saver out of the tree, so there is no need to climb back up to remove it. The AWCS-0430 uses 45 mm and 28 mm ID rings for this purpose.
Can it be used for SRS and MRS climbing?
The AWCS-0430 is listed for both stationary rope system (SRS) and moving rope system (MRS) anchors. Climbers should follow the manufacturer's instructions for how the rope is routed through the rings in each system.
What should a cambium saver RFQ include?
Specify webbing length, width and colour, ring material and finish, labelling, packaging and any standard or test report the target market requires. Power Honour can supply the AWCS-0430 under private label or adapt the length and ring sizes to a customer drawing.

Need this in a different specification?

Different size, material, finish, strength rating or gate, or a part that is not here at all. Send a drawing or a sample and we will come back with a DFM review and a quotation.

  • A reply within two business days from our team in Taipei.
  • NDA on request before drawings or specifications change hands.
  • An engineering and DFM review, not a sales pitch — we will say so if we are the wrong fit.
